The narrator of The Solitude of the Vowels lives in the boarding house Lausana, a hovel packed with marginal beings without hope. There live a serbian upholsterer, an ex swimmer, a couple of homosexuals, a paintor and a writer disciple of Joyce, who tries to write a novel titled The Memory of Oblivion; and shares his room with the gost of a young lady who killed herself in the same box-room.
