Corruption has become one of the most important problems worldwide. It affects economic growth, generates inequality and delegitimizes public institutions. But even so, it is a phenomenon that is poorly understood by citizens, confused with other criminal phenomena and used politically with excessive glee. This text aims to provide basic knowledge about this social scourge in order to promote effective civic mobilization against it and the rigorous taking of responsibility by public authorities to address the problem.
